A Quick Look
Fascinated by the stories of faith as a child. Brother Jerome spent 3 years in seminary and several more years of religious studies while serving 5 years in the military often training with the Green Berets as support personal while stationed with a PSYOP battalion at Fort Liberty, formerly Fort Bragg, during his last 2 years in the service. The TV show Kung Fu in the early 1970s inspired a study of Eastern religions and philosophy. After 9/11 when Islamic extremism really came to the forefront of the news media. Brother Jerome read the Qur'an several times along with a few other Islamic text to better understand the Muslim religion. Reading other religious text not found in the Bible is sill one of his great loves. In this, he lets the Holy Spirit be his guide as he searches for truth in a world filed with hate as it embraces the lies of those who dare to call themselves men of God.
Brother Jerome has not always followed the straight and narrow path. To say that he strayed from the path a time or two would be an understatement. He has wrestled alligators, been a stuntman in western themed parks, decorated ice cream cakes, and worked construction under a world famous architect to name but a few things he has done throughout his life. Brother Jerome has lived a life in the fast lane. He draws strength from the scripture: Teach them (children) the way they should go and when they grow older they will not depart from it. Brother Jerome returned to his spiritual roots and his great love for God and His Gospel.
Returning to a faith driven life, Brother Jerome found a world filled with lies masquerading as truth. Ministers, preachers, pastors or whatever you call them line their pockets from the sale of false hopes and dreams. They live in large luxurious mansions while their flock/congregation/followers live in shacks by comparison. How can any nation claim to be a Christian nation while thousands of homeless live on the streets of America?
Then there is the issue of abortion. Brother Jerome is pro-life with exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother being at risk. However, he is also pro-choice and that above all as Freedom of Choice is the greatest of gifts that God has given to humanity. It is Freedom of Choice that makes it possible for God to test our faith and what we do with it. The moment you limit choices by women or anyone you go against the will of God and His plan. Wives are not meant to be totally subservient to their husbands. Husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies. Husbands are to give their wives the same respect and consideration for themselves as they would expect from others.
God is a living God. He is not stuck in the past as some would have us believe. Things change, the old laws of the Old Testament changed with Jesus's sacrifice and the Gospel he gave us. Two thousand years have past but not all have moved on from the traditions of our forefathers that bring greater liberty for us all, men and women.
Fun Facts:
Brother Jerome's prize possession is the small cross he wears made from olive branches cut from olive trees in Jerusalem, not as the idol that it is, but as something authentic from the Holy Land that goes well with the costume.
He lives in perhaps the most "woke" community in America surrounded almost 200 olive trees in the middle of the desert.
Brother Jerome's pets tend to be exotic and often dangerous; they bite you your dead dangerous or they can strangle you to death.
He was once bitten on the hand by an alligator in front of 300 people. By the grace of God and whispered instructions by the Holy Spirit, he survive with only a severely dislocated wrist. Brother Jerome counts this as a miracle as the alligator rolled 4 times faster than you can blink your eyes twice. The "used to be a stuntman part," and the grace of God, enabled him to keep his hand. Still, wrists are not meant to be rotated 360 degrees violently. Brother Jerome was one roll behind the alligator.
Yes, Brother Jerome knows what happens when you don't listen to or ignore the promptings of the Holy Spirit (Speaking about his time as a stuntman) -
"Cultivate the ability to listen to the voices in your head and find that one voice, the softest of them all, a part of you and outside you all at once. Listen for the whispering of your guardian angel to guide you. Find that voice, because life hurts when it didn't have to when you don't; all the blood, stitches, and dental work aside. There is a difference between reflex and the need to be aware of any danger around you and make adjustments.
It was just another stunt show except there was the tiny little voice screaming at me from a distance, "Don't do it!" I don't understand as I look down at the fall wagon, looks fine. The little voice is getting louder. I'm checking my fall pad one more time as I got into position to be shot by the sheriff. The little voice is now a full-blown bullhorn thundering in my ear, "DON'T DO IT! DON"T JUMP!"
I did it anyway. I jumped.
I pushed open the breakaway railing and I jumped. The script said I was supposed to get shot and fall onto the wagon. Good news, the little voice stopped talking and I hit the fall wagon perfectly. Not even a fraction of a second later, I pistol-whipped myself with the Colt 45 I was holding at the time. Then I proceeded to slide off the wagon head first. After that, I knew which one of the voices in my head I needed to listen to as if my life depended on it. As it turned out..., it has on many occasions. So learn to listen to and for that one special still small voice to guide you on the right path.
